Thats why I started listening to it 😭 Maybe it does get better but I don’t think I can listen to it for that long. Just doesn’t fit the character at all imo and like he’s trying too hard. I also just finished Project Hail Mary and I was listening to The Stormlight Archive before that so I may just be spoiled by Ray Porter and Michael Kramer

Its a play on a typical progfan book, and it very much leans into a joking sort of tone about arguably fairly dark events. Definitely one of the better books i’ve read in the genre, but it’s not a typical high fantasy book if that’s what you’re looking for.

you’ll see what i mean if you read the first half of the first book, as the series takes place in a game show where the main characters are being watched. it’s very interesting dynamic imo

I’m gonna be explicit here: do you mean it takes topics like sexual assault or slavery or discrimination and trivializes them through jokes? I looked into it and am seeing people comment on the humor being crude, but they won’t say more than that. If it’s just crude then I’ll try it, but if it’s actually gross then I’d like to know before getting flashbanged

i mean it’s more like that the entire human race is kinda like enslaved by aliens and that some of the book treats it like a joke since it’s from the POV of the aliens. The whole series is about the main characters fighting against this enslavement. TBH if you read the first like 30 chapters you’ll know if you like it or not.
