As a bookseller at a new and used bookstore, I do at least black out stickers on books I get donated that were bought at goodwill, but goodwill stickers are some of the HARDEST to remove. Like near impossible!! They try so hard to ruin book covers 😭
i understand how reselling works, but i do wish people would remove the evidence that they charged me triple what they paid at goodwill 😭

also, pro tip from a library assistant: the tool at the bottom there, with the square metal part (i have no idea what its proper name is) has been able to perfectly peel up every sticker i’ve ever come across with no damage. we often get donations with super-stuck retail stickers that i have to peel off before putting them in circulation the scrapers we use for due date stickers SUCK, but this thing is my holy grail

I sell on pango and have a lot of books I purchased as used that have markings or stickers, I’ve spent literal hours peeling off stickers/using alcohol wipes to get rid of residue. Sometimes I just include in the picture and description that theres a sticker/marking cause I just can’t get it off 😅

(I usually charge about the same as a goodwill book unless it’s in otherwise near perfect condition and warrants a tiny bit more, but I still try to take all stickers off the books I get that won’t damage the cover)

See I even have a sticker scraper and some of the goodwill donations I get still won’t come off without ripping 😭 they may be ancient too, but out of everything (thrift books, Target, even some library copies) goodwill is my nemesis

Although I’m mostly just selling to make space, my previously used books are usually cheaper than the sticker price anyway, I just like giving myself more work I guess
