Hello! I’m looking for some book recommendations. I am looking for something without smut or romance main plot. Pretty much anything else is game

Invest into classics, anything by Steinbeck, east of Eden, grapes of wrath. anything by McCarthy, I would start with the road, no country for old men, or all the pretty horses though for him.

The Graceling series is great fantasy without romance! The Glamourist series is historical fiction with no smut and romance occurs but isn't the main focus of the book (but magic ooo) The Devil in the White City is a good narrative non-fiction (history but written like a novel) Brandon Sanderson's Secret Projects. They're surprise! books that aren't a part of a series, only related because they were complete surprises

seconding classics (seconding steinbeck specifically), heller and pynchon are also both great, i'd start with catch-22 from heller or the crying of lot 49 from pynchon, and marquez's 100 years of solitude is also a great read

I’m reading MistBorn right now and it’s sooo good! There isn’t like any romance and it’s so cool and really interesting!

Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep is really good. It’s a trilogy and it’s about this women who was like 17th in line to be queen so she wasn’t ever going to be queen. However her cousin the princess ends up slaughtering her entire family and pushing her off a cliff. Then she joins the circus which sounds crazy buts it’s good. There is a love interest but it’s not like the main point of the book it’s just enjoyable. I will say there is a smut scene in book 2 but just one and after implied things

Starter Villain. No romance. Very very funny. It’s a fiction book about a gut inheriting his uncle’s supervillain enterprise. It is not supervillain in the way you think, I promise and it’s a very very good book

my current favorite is “Deadly Animals” by Marie Tierney! it’s mystery with a dash of horror and psychology, and I wish I could read it again for the first time
