My gfs cat unexpectedly died after a regular checkup ended up with euthanasia; it sucks. It’ll continue to suck for a while, but it gets better. I know it’s of no comfort right now, but feel your feels and mourn. Look at pics and think of all the good times you had. It wasn’t your fault and it wasn’t theirs- sometimes bad things happen to good people and animals. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope it gets better. My heart goes out to you, internet stranger.
