tip from a cosmetologist who specializes in curly hair ☺️ squeezing out the water from your hair before applying conditioner in the shower is a great way to avoid diluting the product and wasting money. good conditioner is expensive!

conditioners function is to lower the hairs ph and to coat the hair, both of those functions are impaired when the conditioner is diluted. if you’ve been told conditioners job is to force water into the hair, you’ve been misled. conditioner doesn’t change the water content of the hair, and water staying in your hair for hours would actually damage your hair. the reason people think it makes the conditioner work better is because water softens the hair, so it will feel more silky.

so give it a try and tell me what you think! i’m just trying to save my girlies some money 😊 i’ve started using less than half of the conditioner i was before and getting even better results. now i’m seeing easier detangling and shinier hair!

Is it best to fully wash it out then if the hair needs coating?

yes. it coats the hair even if you rinse it out. most rinse out conditioners are not formulated to be left in. you’d want to use a separate leave in after. i only know of one conditioner that can be used as a leave in and rise out. it’s the kinky curly knot today leave in
