How many of you guys have been called the r-slur by people who didn’t know you were autistic? Genuinely curious because it’s happened to me too often. Like, why are we still normalizing ableism?

I just get more “subtle” comments like “anti social”, “weird”, “not very friendly” like honestly I’d rather you just call me a slur atp it would hurt less than pointing out all the things I work so hard on to overcome

I haven’t been called it, but I have been around so many people when they used it to describe other people, things, etc.

and as an adult it hasn’t really happened because i went to a school with a lot of neurodivergent folk, so i both was able to be a little “weird” and to grow my social skills in an environment that was accepting
