Can anyone relate to feeling “trapped” in new media you consumed? Read a new book I really liked but now real life feels weird and I just feel very upset and disregulated

Also the book was sad and upsetting in many ways so that’s probably part of it

If I watch tv shows, I will take on the accents of the characters I like, their personalities, their wardrobe (and be upset if I don’t have it), and everything. I genuinely have to be careful what I watch bc of it

Yeah it’s hard bc I get so much joy from books I like but when this happens it really throws me off for a while

And I do also submerge myself in the show and I feel the things the characters feel to the extent that life feels that way afterwards until all of it goes away over time or I find a new show
