i was today years old when i found out the “why did the chicken cross the road? to get to the other side” wasn’t meant to be taken literally. aparently it’s cause he “goes to the other side” (like dead). my life is a lie.

I thought it was supposed to be literally.. like an anti-joke. the funny part is there is no wordplay double meaning punch line that you’re expecting.

the chicken refers to someone suicidal but too afraid to do anything about it themselves. they cross the road to k*ll themselves. aka “get to the other side”

Wait it doesn’t mean the chicken is just crossing the road?! I thought it was just dry humor.
