My therapist (who I’ve only seen twice) said he doesn’t think I’m autistic or that I’m high functioning Asperger’s because I:
-made eye contact
-showed emotions
-made facial expressions
🫥
I had a therapist say this too. Word for word “you can’t be autistic. You make eye contact” YEAH I’M PUTTING ALL MY ENERGY INTO DOING IT RIGHT

You might wanna remind him that Asperger’s no longer exists as a diagnosis and to maybe check the news in his field once in his life.
It became SPCD a decade ago and even that was dissolved into ASD in the past half decade or so. It was a huge deal.

Based on this post I really think I might have autism now because I find eye contact extremely uncomfortable but I do it anyway

Mine said it was because I made hand gestures while i spoke

I got told this + I like talking to people and my IQ is ‘too high’ means I can’t possibly be autistic. Turns out this doctor is notorious for saying this EXACT THING TO EVERY PATIENT.
