most people have had fillings, you will get numbed which hurts for a second because it’s a needle, then they will drill out the cavity and fill it and you only feel the vibration of the drill. then you’ll be a bit numb after but there’s no pain.last filling i had they didn’t even numb me and i didn’t feel a thing. i have never known someone to have a bad experience getting a filling they are just so routine for dentists

i got my filling!! it was completely fine and pain free :) needle was a little uncomfortable bc the topical anesthetic didn’t work on me for aforementioned reasons but the whole process took twenty minutes

I’ve gotten a couple. I have high anxiety at dentist because of not being able to control or see anything. So they give me some gas then leave oxygen on for me afterwards. It’s usually not as bad as I’m worried to as long as I have some music. Most dentist are really good about working with you to feel comfortable

I’ve gotten one and it was pretty much like what 1 described. The worst part was the initial anesthetic needle which was mostly just the pressure but after that it was okay. The drill does have a grating sound so the headphones are a good idea. As 1 and 2 already said, you should def tell the dentist about the condition and any other issues/concerns you have. It is literally their job to give you the care you need, so don’t feel worried about asking for what you need.

Yeah! It's not bad at all. The worst part is the numbing needle at the beginning because its a needle but its very short. After that, you dont feel anything and it's gentle pressure. I didnt even feel the drill go in to do the actual filling 😂 i suggest taking a tylenol or ibuprofen beforehand and then wearing airpods while they do the procedure. You got this!

i’m worried bc i also have a genetic condition that makes topical anesthetic less effective. my dad has dental trauma bc of it and i really want to avoid being traumatized, i find the dentist a sensory nightmare just getting cleanings :(

i’m gonna bring a weighted pillow type thing (therapy shark), headphones, and a stress ball but idk what else i might need to deal

then you should tell the dentist about ur condition. they will ask more often if you can feel anything so they’ll know if they have to give you more anesthetic. the dentist is a sensory nightmare but fillings are quite quick

Obviously I don’t know the condition but if it’s only for topical anesthesia then the injection should be more okay? Not a medical person by any means but at least for mine the anesthesia was injected so hopefully that’ll be better
