**not autistic but was told to post here bc apparently this happens commonly** My friend claims to be autistic and makes that an excuse to take things I need (my loops, fidget, water, jacket, etc) that help me prevent/alleviate overstimulation 1/2

I don’t know why I experience overstimulation but I was dealing with it before I understood what it was and made tools for myself and carry things to help. For a bit I let my friend use it bc I thought she needed it, but I was confused why she never had stuff to help herself bc she claims to have had it her whole life (we are 22). Just found out she was told she had a symptom of it, but that it was likely her ADHD. That’s when her overstimulation started (she didn’t tell me but I 2/?

i hate that being overstimulated is a trend right now. i go on tiktok and all these girls are using the word overstimulated and it’s not cute, they don’t get it, it’s disrespectful

Kind of tracked when I noticed her acting this was to when she was told that and realized she never had known overstimulation before, never had these reactions to the same stimuli at all. I get it can change over time, trust me I do, but it was like 0 to 100. It genuinely makes me look like a terrible person if I don’t give her my stuff when I need it/am using it bc she’ll loudly announce being autistic and I’ll get glares. She knows I’ve dealt with it since I was a kid, she’s known me 3/?

But idk what to do. If this gives people any idea, I was diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and my therapist believes I have fawn response due to trauma I experienced. All of these I was diagnosed at 21 as therapy wasn’t an option before and another round of testing was recommended as autism is suspected, but I decided I didn’t need to spend that money as I know what works/helps me without a label (though I never tell people I’m autistic, I just say I have issues with overstimulation)*end

It irks me so much. I don’t openly say I have those issues. Only my close/long time friends know, I kept it as FAR from social media as possible bc with all the fakes I know I wouldn’t be taken seriously. That’s what happened with fidget cubes and spinners. People would just have them to haste them and they got banned a lot of schools for those who needed them

I also want to clarify I wasn’t talking about you at all. Reading all of your post made me think about this and yes the needing fidgets when you don’t actually need this is also an issue.
