Sometimes ppl don’t really realize that they do have rigid thinking until it’s pointed out, same with routines- Like you won’t have a meltdown if the routine is disrupted but you do PREFER the same things on the same day

The rigid thinking might show up more subtley for you, autism is a spectrum after all. I have rigid thinking and also am huge on routines but generally my daily life doesn’t look the same every day and I’m not as rigid as some other autistic people. My rigidity usually shows up in black and white thinking or refusing to change the way I do something even if another way is better.

I need someone to explain what’s meant by “rigid thinking”. I don’t get it 😭

Recent example for me was when I was talking to my therapist abt not wanting to hook up with someone anymore I thought it was A. Don’t be friends at all Or b. Put up with it (just without the sex, like cuddling and being very close) And she was like “no… you can just hangout w them in a group if that’s all u want, that’s an option” … I didn’t know that 😭
