My dad was coming close to my town (to see my aunt) and didn’t tell me until I called him and said Im graduating and he said “I’ll be there anyways I have plans to see your aunt” and it makes me wonder how many other times he was by me and never told me

Idk my family assumes because I never call them, dont speak much at gatherings, etc. it means I never want to see them. I would love to visit them and see them more often BUT I don’t want to to be the one doing the planning. Like my aunt gave him a months heads-up in advance why couldn’t he call and ask me bc he’s nearby if I wanna see him lmaaoooo

Even in the past my half sisters were the ones who said “we should drive and see (name) too!” when they’d see my mom lol. My parents never visited me, called me, etc. during college unless they had to lol. Since I moved into an apartment and stopped going home due to dorms closing and stuff it’s like they forgot i existed

the way a PARENT treats their CHILD is going to determine the relationship even when the child grows up..
