hi guys! i’m not sure if i can technically be in here, as im not diagnosed. i actually joined to ask a question about getting diagnosed. it isn’t too expensive for me (insurance), but it seems scary. can anyone share their experience getting diagnosed??

U dont gotta. Think ab how sure you are vs what would benefit you from a dx

Tbh if you live in USA I would recommend against going for an official dx rn bc the weird fixation RFK has with autism. Unfortunately history has shown that fascist admins dont like autistics. If you can wait until things improve, do it in the future

i feel like even just the reassurance that there’s a reason for the way i think would be enough of a benefit for me.. the worry is actually going through the process

what do you think would be bad about getting a diagnosis now as opposed to in the future? (not trying to be rude, i’m genuinely wondering)

Surveillance, tracking, being put on a list, becoming more vulnerable due to records of disability
