I’ve noticed kids tend to gravitate towards me for similar reasons. I don’t want kids, too burnt out, but my cousin’s kids love spending time in my room during holidays. I think I prefer being an aunt/babysitter. I was asked during my adhd testing whether I had to “think about” it, when switching how I talk to kids, so there’s definitely some correlation. I still speak directly and in a monotone voice usually. I also feel like adults tend to treat kids like they’re dumber than they really are
i’ve always been very in tune with kids, i work in education and have been babysitting since i was like 12. we have quite a few kids on the spectrum between my two jobs in education and i’ve learned so much more about myself and my autism working with other kids with autism and just kids in general.
