this gives me some follow up questions: - what formula are you following? - did you have to come up with it yourself? - did you struggle before the formula, or would you struggle without it?

Formula like is this person friends with me, this is how much I should share when asking about my day, and common topics for small talk is like weather and how life is busy. I came up with that part of it sometimes I mess up and overshare tho. My mom has taught me professionally when to gesture, tone of voice, facial expressions, etc. idk if that counts tho cause that was training for like speeches and interviews

So you’re doing manual calculations based on a variety of factors to decide how to talk to people? And sometimes the calculations fail/you don’t use them and you find yourself making social missteps in conversation?

Yea but it normally works and only a few jokes go over my head. I dont know if that counts as autism or not

sounds to me like you struggle with social situations and have found scripts to make it easier. very similar to my experience with autism

Thank you for your perspective. I never really realized it was scripts before. I thought everyone did it
