“My bad” sounds like the biggest cop-out from a dude especially given the circumstances you just listed, and so long as he knows that “my bad” is acceptable, you can COUNT on that happening or worse. Like, shit, it aint MY bad, how about im sorry? (An apology should only be given if theres a concerted effort afterward to avoid that same situation. Thats how my parents raised me.
Hopefully it can be resolved with a little communication. Had a roommate who was content with not keeping up with chores (would host parties and let the rest of us clean up after the beer cans and trash on the ground) and my friends who are girls came over in the dorm and cleaned things up while i was at class. Now it was very sweet of them, and i made sure to help them out with some stuff too as a thank you, but after it just sat wrong with me. I pulled my roomate aside im like
THANK YOU!!! I tried to explain to him I don't like when he says my bad all the time it feels like ur not acknowledging me. Like he can say I understand or oh i'm sorry i'll be sure to... and on top of that he says my bad and he has done the same thing but it's only happened twice now so I mentioned it to him. i'm sure he j doesn't realize it but I still brought it up.
“Dude, i heard what the girls said, they wanted to stay for a bit, but couldnt stand the way the room looked. Im sure they were happy to help, but dont you EVER make extra work for them like that, it is NEVER their job to keep our dorm clean just so they feel welcome to spend a bit of time watching tv with us or just coming to relax. I NEVER want to hear that they had to do that ever again” Bc it’s embarrassing when ppl have to clean up after my room, and it wasn’t even my fault. Poor girls dude
