As a man, how can I do better to support women's rights and fight rape culture without infantilizing women or looking like I’m virtue signaling? I grew up watching my late mother get abused, and have 5 sisters. Which shaped my support of women’s rights.

Defend women even when there’s no women around. A lot of the problem is how guys talk to other guys about women, even if they don’t say it directly to them. Men don’t listen to what we have to say, men listen to other men. Having men defend and fight for women when it’s only men really goes a long way.

Be really cognizant about the space youre taking. Never speak over victims and always give them space. Use your privilege to take space when needed

Look up questions, call your local government on behalf of women’s rights. And the biggest thing you can do is call out these “jokes” that perpetuate the standards and expectations that men have. Call out your friends when they make jokes deeming women. Educate them on the harm they are causing.

That’s one thing, I never want to be the one with a bull horn on these issues. I always want t support. Like in healthcare, I’ve learned so much in Endometriosis and PPD from two friends who I’m very close with. I see their struggle, and it hurts to see friends hurting.

…granted our healthcare is shitty regardless here, but after knowing how much more pain women go through and women’s healthcare or health studies is under funded makes me livid.

It’s even worse if one is a woman of color. Black women are 4x as likely to die on the operating table/ giving birth than white women are.
