The sad truth is that there are a lot of men who get off on upsetting women/making women uncomfortable. They revel in women’s discomfort. Beyond that my only explanation for that compulsion is gender-specific sociopathy :(

1) psychopaths are more associated with charm and disguising their lack of empathy while sociopaths are more impulsive and have a harder time masking, which is why I used this term. These men clearly do not integrate into society well 2) neither term is officially recognized; both fall under the umbrella of ASPD if you want to get technical, which you should know if you’re a psych student. There was no need to be a condescending asshole here.

as another psych major psychopathy and sociopathy both outdated terms and are no longer recognized as actual psychological disorders 😭 like they haven't been for a while... if anything treating those terms as having actual scientific weight in contexts like this would be more harmful to public knowledge of psychological disorders
