Why is it more socially acceptable to talk about periods than poop? I think we should be able to talk about both.

Hey, just so you know I’m a guy. I have certain health issues and I wish it was ok to tell people about them. Periods make IBS and other issues that I already have way worse. And I have autism which is known to make periods worse. I’m really glad I don’t have to deal with them.

In my experience, poop is more socially acceptable and seen as natural while periods are seen as gross and shameful. I guess poop is funny and periods aren’t so maybe that’s a big difference

I’ve had really bad constipation my whole life, so every time I eat I think about poop. I thought everyone else did that for a while, and nobody explained to me that that wasn’t the case. Once I found out it made sense why it wasn’t socially acceptable to talk about it while eating. One of my favorite foods is saag paneer. It’s delicious but also helps with constipation.

I agree in my experience periods have not really been a socially acceptable thing to talk about
