I have my first gyno appointment in an hour. No Pap smear because I’m not sexually active but a pelvic check and breast exam. I’m superrr nervous. Any advice or motivation would be great!!

It’s not fun but honestly it wasn’t as bad as I expected. The uncomfortable part was maybe 30 seconds, they go really fast & it didn’t like hurt as much as I thought it would. If you feel like something would help you relax (like having someone hold your hand while the Dr is doing their thing or something like that) then tell them! They want it to be as comfortable as possible for you. It sucks but hang in there babe :) you can DM if you need anything

It’s not the greatest but honestly not bad. But you don’t need to be sexually active for Pap smears they check for cancers and everything too. Remember to breathe and drink some water and communicate if you’re in pain at all that’s what they’re for

It’s uncomfortable but not bad at all, just be open and honest with your doctor. I had a great doctor for my first one

As a woman I do advise you to get a Pap smear even if ur not sexually active, they can detect early ovarian cancer that way as well and it’s good to know if everything’s okay

Advocate for yourself please. I just recently learned that they have different size speculums!

Speculums are used for Pap smears, pelvic exam is just fingers

Oh I feel like I had speculums used before I started getting paps? Either way, the advocate for yourself part still stands like that’s crazy we’re not even told there’s different sizes

They shouldn’t be using a speculum for a pelvic exam bc they gotta literally feel around for fibroids and cysts and stuff
