iuds are highly highly effective even if you get a period. having a period doesn’t necessarily mean you ovulate

Ovulation and menstruation are completely different tho. I’m on the pill, it blocks ovulation but not menstruation bc it’s a “false” or “fake” period. Similar to that of an IUD

like the whole purpose of it is to prevent ovulation but if you’re still technically getting your period does that mean you technically still ovulate to some extent?

thank you for all of your inputs to my weird ass question, I do speak to a lot of healthcare professionals and I sometimes stump them with the questions so this just gives you an insight into how I think

technically it’s called anovulatory bleeding when ur on some method of birth control. your uterus still needs to shed its lining even when there’s no egg

I mean, that’s what I figured, like that’s what the literature says at least, it was just something that I was talking to some doctors about and some were like no you don’t and others were like it’s a possibility

yeah but you stop taking the pill in order to get your period, and iud is in all the time so therefore it should be different no?

False. I take the pill on my period. It’s meant to replicate a period. There is no shedding bc there are no eggs, bc there is no ovulation
