Is anyone good with electric?? I have questions. My bills since October have been astronomically high. Saying our usage is 1,300+ per month. Yet, me and my fiance are rarely home

Do you leave your heat/AC on a high setting?

if it’s a rental, the insulation in ur place might not be great. like the heat isn’t being contained effectively, making the heat turn on more often and stay on for longer periods of time. my parents had that problem

Look up the Community Weatherization Coalition. Lots of tips there to reduce your utility bill. Clean the refrigerator coils, put insulation behind the light switch panels, protect the cracks around the door, get LED light bulbs, etc. Each thing might seem small, but it adds up.

Our heat is set at 72. Which it normally is. It was that way last year as well. We live in a small two bed two bath apartment

The only issue is, we’ve been here for almost two years. And last year it was not this high. Even with the electricity cost

whoa, that’s a crazy price increase. did ur electric rates go up? they love to do that before it gets cold. if its an option, I would try to price compare different electric providers and see if you can switch to a better one if it exists I would also consider calling the electric company you have now and bringing up the outrageous price increase with them

So we were with a company before. They signed us up for a rate of 10.7¢. They then upped it to 17.8¢ without telling us. We canceled and reported them. Got $150 back from the two bills that were high. Now we’re back with the company we started with. Last year at this time, I was without a job. So I was home, all of the time. And the usage was 950. Even with us being home. Now, my fiance is at school most of the day, I’m away at work for 12 hours a day. On the weekends, we’re either home or at -
