Why do many women have an issue with fictional characters being dressed in revealing or sexually appealing clothes, when most of the time it’s just stuff you see people wear outside every week.

I think because with fictional characters it’s very commodified/commercialized for the sake of men getting off to it. So much so that I’ve seen men throwing hissy fits because a female character isn’t designed a “certain way”. Also some of them simply piss me off because they just don’t make any sense. Like a female character being written in some war-torn era but her armor is a chest plate with full cleavage and like some metal underwear basically

Bc in most fictional universes you wouldn’t see people dressed like how we do.

Because it’s like every women dressed that way. In my class sure some people wear those clothes but women also have different body types, not every woman has large breasts and a small waist. And often times shows simply don’t show that.

It’s not how they’re dressed, it’s how unrealistically curvy they are. You know what would happen if a woman with a pinprick waist tried to fight in a war? She’d topple over because she doesn’t have the stomach muscles to stand up straight

Also, where are the epicly jacked female heroes? Part of the fun of video games is controlling an absolute badass character

What’s funny is the mainstream media takes away the jacked female characters we do have😭😭 I’m talking about Abby from tlou

There are women who have the body types depicted in many games even if they are rare. Personally I’d argue the male body types are often no more forgiving in a similar aspect in the games you’re thinking of

The games you speak of have more unrealistic things than cleavage armor tbh

The difference is the male physique shown are usually somewhat attainable through body building. The female forms shown are quite literally impossible unless you get plastic surgery which wouldn’t even exist in a lot of these universes like said before lol

I’m pretty sure she’s wearing tundra gear and pants in the newest one and it’s like ten years old. Tomb raider is lowkey a dead franchise for gen z

The male forms are actually less realistic than the female forms if you really want to go there. Yeah the female forms sometimes need plastic if they are the thicker ones. The male ones are literally Mr. Olympia. So no they aren’t just as simple as buying it or “just” body building lmao

The male forms are unrealistic in forms that depict strength and competence. The female forms are unrealistic in forms that depict sexuality. THAT is the issue. No one wants to be the sex doll in a gun shooting game.

I’m speaking on physical appearance only for rn. I mean clearly you were somewhat a victim when it comes to how you view men the way you say occurs for women. Like you actually spoke like the male bodies are realistic lmao

Also you say no one wants a sex doll in a shooting game but I can’t even see how this applies to the most popular fps games. Like it’s literally first person you aren’t seeing the character model at all really

I never said the male ones were realistic. Just that the female ones are unrealistic in a way that is stupid and useless for the task at hand. No one needs giant boobs to shoot a gun.

Would you enjoy a game where all the male characters were flimsy with cute faces, nerdy glasses, long eyelashes, and tight underwear, while all the female ones were strong macho jacked goddesses?

Look at those three images though: Left - woman bent over with boobs sticking out. Center - curvy woman with tiny waist Right - normal looking ass guy in a cool ninja pose That’s the kind of advertising and design that I think is stupid. Of all the ways to make characters unrealistic in a kids game, they choose sex for the women.

But I like to think that the character on the right is also a woman. Because if so, she’s the only one there that actually looks COOL

The “ninja guy” is not even a guy it’s a woman model you’d know that if you played the game. The way you speak about these characters is like they are naked. Like do you feel the same way about all advertisements then? Like the girl in the middle has no skin showing, like b cups and your acting like she’s got 1000cc plastic implants 💀

If that guy was sexualized, he might be smiling seductively or have his butt out to the side a bit or something. Most of the female characters have some trait that men find sexually appealing. This guy has none of that. It’s not suggestive in any way.

None of the people in the picture you sent are being sexualized you are choosing to view them in that lens for some reason

Yea I never played Fortnite. If they actually have cool female characters that aren’t all overly sexualized though, that’s fine then. I just don’t like when games make all or most female characters have overly sexualized bodies because that pulls subtle strings in human brains that pull us away from equality.
