
first of all i think it’s great that ur going to therapy and trying to get better! that’s a huge step in making ur life better and u should be proud of it. for me its only an issue if i am a partners sole outlet for their struggles or if it manifests in like extreme jealousy or expecting me to be replying to their texts 24/7, bc then i feel like i have to be perfect all of the time. imo being able to admit that ur struggling and seeking help are qualities i want in everyone im around
As a person who struggles, if you’re actively in an episode/slump I wouldn’t recommend starting to date. But when things feel better and you feel ready, it’s just about being honest. I always let my partner know where I’m at and ensure that he knows it’s not him. I have a depressive disorder that I will live with forever, but it gets easier to manage when you’re able to not identify with it. Tell yourself “even though I feel like shit right now, this does not define me, and this will pass.”
