ive always wondered why girls hate being put on a pedestal, now i understand! I created a version of my ex that wasn’t her I held her to the standard of who I wanted her to be because of the pedestal, idk how to change.

This is called idealization or projection in psychology, and is something often associated with BPD! The way that’s treated is with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), which basically trains you to hold multiple truths about a person at once. For example, a therapist might ask you to name 3 things you like about someone, and 3 things that don’t fit your ideal. It really helped me stop holding people to ridiculous standards/trying to make them someone they weren’t
