How often is it for women to miss or overlook these, ahem, ‘decidedly subtle’ cues? Cuz as a liberal straight guy all I can say is “really? I mean….he LOOKS and SOUNDS exactly like a Trump supporter” but I also don’t know what women are into

True colors will show in most interactions

I will say that some men will simply lie about their political beliefs in order to get women. On dating apps they will put something they aren’t. Also for some people politics is something you only bring up when you are less scared.

I don’t date white dudes anyway I’d rather avoid the racism and dense social cues entirely

As a liberal myself, yeah I’m kind of genuinely curious too.

I’ve dated one because I was straight up purposefully misled in his political beliefs and he would say what I wanted to hear I later learned and I fell for it

See like….i WANT to believe that but then I see videos of women crying that the man they were dating for a month turned out to be a Trump supporter/ closeted Trump voter. And I’m not victim blaming here and I am also wondering how they went for an entire month without even questioning it?

Ok but like a month really isn’t that long

It kind of is. If I can tell a girl is only interested in me for money or attention on date 3, surely she can tell if he’s willing to stand by her rights for an abortion or defending immigrants like the second they meet

Like he wouldn’t say he wasn’t into politics, he would say the political opinions I wanted to hear

What finally gave his game away?

Well women do give ppl the benefit of the doubt and plenty of men lie to tell women what they want to hear compared to women being straightforward and honest more directly. I didn’t know my ex cheated on me until like 6 months in because I genuinely couldn’t tell or track any sudden changes in him until he came clean

When I started talking about trans women for the first time and I guess he couldn’t hold back some real opinions then it spiraled

That sucks. I’m sorry you experienced that. And I think it’s also should be recognized that calling out shit like this, even if it’s frustrating, is entirely justified

This was a bit ago so these days I probably would’ve probably naturally mentioned that sooner tbh, but it wasn’t at the forefront as much at least then

I’ll be honest, I’m very fortunate to be in a space where a lot of my close friends growing up have now transitioned into their true selves and felt our friendship was worth of telling me personally. A lot of our fiend circles socialize us to having good morals and judgment- which is why a man saying “eh I don’t care enough about politics anymore” is enough of a red flag to make me go “wait, what the fuck?” in 2025.

Oh 100% that’s a dealbreaker

I feel like these days I wouldn’t have fallen for it bc I still have the same general ideas but I am more educated and can talk about these things in more depth, I was young and idk my friends say things sarcastically even and I think they’re being serious. So maybe I’m not best at seeing lies..
