For context my mom was verbally and mentally abusive and my dad was aware of it but travels for work and ultimately told me that we all have to make sacrifices.. aka in order to live in the house I have to deal with the way she treated me even though I was only 16 and had no other option😭

They weren’t the ones harmed. They have no right to forgive on your behalf. You can’t control who they spend their time with. But you are free to choose not to show up to events where this family member is present.
