I really wish we could cut all the gender war hate bullshit and just take people as we see them. I accept to be individually assessed by my character, not as a man or women or black or white or my dad did this and your ancestors were awful etc

Not a question but I agree. I am friends with people of almost all genders, sexualities, races, religions, political parties etc. This is because I think it’s important to have multiple perspectives and also anyone can be a cool person I want to hang out with

I feel like politics is the only thing a line should be drawn for ngl

I would politely disagree. I feel like it gives me a lot of insight to them. If we divide ourselves as people into 2 sections we separate ourselves from half of society. My friends who are Republicans and Democrats still understand my side and I see theirs. My Republican friends actually didn’t vote for their candidate as he didn’t follow their core views, because it’s not black and white or just 2 parties

Other than obvious Nazi supporters or people like that. That is a line that does need to be drawn. Also my family is Jewish on one side so I doubt they would be friends with me

So you agree a line does need to be drawn somewhere lol. I wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who votes to remove human rights or advocates against my communities in any way

Imo it’s still a bit petty since most people aren’t informed voters. Better to get to know someone and have productive conversations than live life isolated from people you think you disagree with. You’d be shocked to find out how much people who vote differently have in common with each other and agree on. There’s just no candidates that represents those commonalities

Same reason why the gender war thing is bullshit. Everyone is just fed slop for 8 hours a day or whatever the average screen time is now and its sole purpose is to cause division for profit. It’s all fake. 90% of people don’t even read past headlines anyway (proven by studies), so it’s not a stretch to say peoples opinions aren’t even their own anymore. They’re manufactured by a corporate algorithm that they consume and regurgitate in echo chambers

That’s why it’s important to talk to people. Not having those conversations is effectively the same as not reading past that person’s headline. It’s impossible to be informed about how they really think unless you know the details you won’t find unless you talk with them
