i think the first things to do would be find or even hire a medical advocate, and beyond that do research into doctors who will help her, there are tons out there. also if your feeling petty maybe leave some reports and reviews letting these doctor’s potential patients know that they do not uphold their vows and do not care for their patient’s suffering. unacceptable

My girlfriend has a family history of tumors developing in her uterus, which makes her cycles worse and worse. Every female member of her family at a certain age gets a hysterectomy so they don’t have to deal with it before menopause. She has tried to get one in the past quite a few times but unfortunately doctors and OBGYNS shut her down every time because she’s “Too young” or “hasn’t had any kids yet”. She is 22, which I understand is young but we both do not want kids. She explicitly wants

There are lists out there of doctors in every state who will perform these surgeries

hey so i did a quick search for doctors who perform hysterectomies and a list popped up from reddit where people got hysterectomies no questions asked. i don't know where you are but here's the list that was provided: https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1rcYMp9tjUIRl62lGA9l4JlrdgNzMHVNRK5gXIEfMvFw/mobilebasic here's also the link to the reddit page if you want to read it (i just quickly scanned it)

(Possible tw) Her brothers to have kids so there are some in her life without total financial, mental, and physical responsibility. That being said, she has been shut down every time she tries and it just seems like it’s getting worse and worse for her. Her symptoms are so bad that she passes out from the pain sometimes, which I didn’t even know could happen before I met her. She sometimes talks about just doing it herself, which I kinda thought was a joke until I woke up last night, realized

She wasn’t in bed, checked the living room to see if she was in there, and she was sleeping on the couch with a knife in her hand. I get it out of her hand before waking her up, but when I did, she said, in her words “I was hurting really bad, and I was about to do a bad thing, but was also sleep deprived and wanted to not deal with this pain anymore and I knew that so I waited it out until I fell asleep” which is just awful to hear. I genuinely don’t know what to do. If anything happens to her

I wish I was joking when I say that I live for her, so to see her like this almost every month breaks my heart and my soul. She has prescribed medication for her periods and for depression, which I know isn’t a fix whatsoever, but is there something different? I don’t even know man, just please help

Do you know if they are covered by insurance? We are both college students

She needs pain relief as soon as possible. Chronic pain can lead to suicidal thoughts and actions

Idk that depends on your insurance and what doctors are in your area

As someone with endometriosis I double up on pain meds, taking both acetaminophen and ibuprofen. You can take about 1000 milligrams of each a day, I usually do 400 of both on rough days

I’m not sure I just know the lists exist somewhere, I’ve seen it before I don’t have the link anymore tho

Up until we can find someone to do a surgery for her, is there any recommendations I could get to help alleviate any pain? I try to massage her belly and offer her relief items like heating pads but I’m not sure how else to help

Her period medicine is 800 mg pills of ibuprofen and 500 mg naproxen pills which she interchanges so she doesn’t get used to one. She usually does 1 ibuprofen or 2 naproxen pills

She shouldn’t take those at the same time

But if you want to get her some Tylenol/acetaminophen she can take that along with both those

She doesn’t. She interchanges them. I mean that she will exclusively use ibuprofen for one month then naproxen for the next month

I would definitely do that, haven’t thought to though. I get pissed every time she is dismissed. I even come to a few of them with her because the medical system is misogynist and sometimes looks to a man to verify but that hasn’t helped too much either, although they would always tell me instead of her like she isn’t the one dealing with it

Misogyny is deep rooted in the medical field, your doing a great job supporting her and i’m sure yall will find a good solution, i wish you luck and i hope you find an ACTUAL doctor soon.
