My friend just found out their mom has breast cancer. Does anyone have some advice or like uplifting facts about success rates or something? I don’t know how to be there for them it just feels so surreal

My grandma had breast cancer twice and she’s doing great. One of my teachers also had breast cancer and she’s free and living her best life. It also depends on how early they found out and such.

Honestly I would just let them know that you’re there for whatever they need. I had a family member that passed from breast cancer and when we found out she had it there wasn’t really any statistic anyone could provide to lighten the feeling. Sometimes just being there is the best thing you can do

I think it depends on the person

Not success rates, but how you should approach talking (or not talking) to them about this.

Fair. I’m just freaking out a bit. My grandma died from breast cancer but I know they have better technology now. Still it’s scary and I don’t know how to help

Idk, same with my grandma but my girlfriend’s dad has cancer and maybe a little less than a year. Sometimes she would bring it up because she had to and in those moments I tried not to stir anything if she wanted to continue the convo as it was, but eventually she brought it up on her own terms and let it out, all I could do was hold her and cry with her in silence as she said it all. Just be there for your friend when they need it
