Well yeah…its kind of a given that “obesity” = unhealthy. But obesity is only the label. You have to really assess why someone is obese in the first place. I work with many ppl that are borderline hitting obesity bc they simply eat a lot but at the same time they’re unhealthy bc they’re diabetics or something else. Or they’re just overly buff. It’s really case specific on weight vs obesity
“Obesity is commonly defined as having too much body fat. A BMI of 30 or higher is the usual benchmark for obesity in adults. Obesity increases the risk of serious medical conditions. Treatments include changing what you eat, adding activity and mental health support.” I’m not saying people don’t genuinely struggle with weight because they do and it’s extremely prevalent in America as well. But someone can be visibly heavier and not be your definition of obese
i also want to add that like 99% of people who are obese are well aware its unhealthy. however losing weight and eating better is way easier said than done depending on the reason a person might be obese. it also doesn't happen overnight. ethan benard on tik tok started at 660lbs and lost over 220. that is an achievement.
