Is it normal to feel jealous when friends get engaged/married to the point where you don’t even want to go to the wedding. I feel bad even asking but wondering if I’m alone here

No that’s not normal. You could be disappointed you still haven’t found someone but you shouldn’t be jealous about others that do especially your own friends and family. And you especially shouldn’t be considering even not going because of these jealous feelings.

What does it show about me if I choose not to go out of jealousy and self preservation?

Bad things in all honesty. It’s extremely self focused as this is a super important and once in a life time thing for your friends and even if it’s bittersweet as you personally are jealous, to be so consumed by it that you can’t even go to support them? Huge issue and I recommend therapy

My therapist recommended to me that I don’t go if it’s too much for me to handle. She told me that ultimately I do have to prioritize my own feelings even if that means skipping a friend’s wedding.
