Why is generalization against men so prevalent when it’s the exact thing we seek to defeat when fighting racism?

How is that the same thing? Ofc generalizations are bad in any regard but it’s not under the same heightened umbrella as racism that’s been a system of oppression and power upheld for decades

Unfortunately we as people like to put things in boxes and make them fit. I think no group should be judged by a generalization unless it’s specific situations like all rapists are bad obviously

Same reason they do it for race, religion, sexuality, disability, etc

Women on here use 1:1 arguments racists use just replace every time you see the word men with an ethic group and it’s clear to see

For me it’s more of like things people genuinely have no choice over. U shouldn’t have to bear that cross just for belonging to a group out of chance

They’re fundamentally the same thing even tho racism has been more harmful, misandry is just more recent and hasn’t been very affected bc of the patriarchy but it just sickens me cuz that logic is exactly what racists use when they say things like all poc are violent

Like gay people get a lot of flack for a group who is just into the opposite gender. They didn’t choose that. They are sometimes still generalized as gross or sick because the AIDS epidemic really tarnished their reputation for things outside of themselves

Yeah but it really hurts because I can expect people to be racist or homophobic, some people are just prejudice. But it hurts extra when I see ppl who should be standing up against that kind of oppression use the same line of reasoning

Misandry isn’t that mainstream of an issue like misogyny and doesn’t have the historical significance. But racism isn’t in fact the same in any regard. Especially since you get misogyny in racism all the time so racism ends up it’s own separate historical issue that’s still being battled issue. Women calling out men and it being labeled misandry is more of a new lack of accountability thing

What is the misandry that you’re seeing? I’m likely not aware of it

I get what ur saying tbh but idk i always see ppl on tt talking about like and i mean all men and it irks me cuz yeah it’s not that big of an issue but it’s still the same logic and two rights don’t make a wrong, and it’s usually the ppl who are fighting miso and racism. It also just makes men hate women even more

I don’t think it’s the same. And usually those that are saying all men likely don’t even mean all of them. But when women are like “why are men like this” they’re calling out the bad behavior. If it doesn’t apply to you then ofc we’re not worried about you but it’s good to call out the behavior of ppl that are harming others in different ways especially after years of dealing with it without public addressing. I don’t think it’s misandrist to call out the ill men have done

But saying things like “all men are just violent” well…yes and no. All men have the capacity to BE violent. Everyone does honestly. Will they actively engage in violence? No. But it’s not really a bad thing for women to be cautious of it especially with a lot of it happening behind closed doors

I’m not sure how that would make you hate the women more and not the men committing the act

Ik what ur saying, and I think women should be safe esp on like dates and stuff but I just feel like some ppl on social media are rlly more focused on putting men down rather than empowering women, and im not saying it makes me hate those women im saying it makes it easier for men to equate that kind of misandry w the entire feminist movement and that makes them think we hate them as a whole and then they don’t wanna support it yk

And I’m not rlly talking abt when they’re like y are men like this I know they don’t mean it like that, but like when they’re like kill all men or y do men love to rape or something it hurts me cuz I have men in my life who are genuinely good ppl and I feel safe around and it just irks me that someone might never be willing to hear them out just bcs they’re men. I just feel like ppl in general tend to be bad, I feel like singling out men is just wrong yk?

I don’t even think it’s misandrists or related to the feminist movement. I think addressing men’s ill behavior is less on feminism but more on society learning that ppl are tired and want some accountability. The more it gets brushed under the more ppl feel entitled to doing said actions bc no one is going to speak out on them. Like how ppl bypassed Trump. Who knows what these people are capable of. Like a wake up call to society saying “hey women are being actively harmed here do something”

A lot of us have good male figures. Doesn’t mean we hate all men just the men in our lives that have done that to us or even the random ppl that have done it to others. Idrc if I know the man or not but if you’ve hurt a woman in your lifeline I’m going to remember it. A lot of times ppl aren’t realizing what they do, like inappropriate comments, touching. It’s not always straight up assault. It’s not their fault ofc but it’s good to be aware of
