Usually it’s more a situation when I’ve known them as acquaintances and then we go on a date or two, so they are more (overly) invested, where the most terrible stuff happens in my experience

Being honest and mature is what women want, it will upset a woman more if you leave with no warning and no explanation. Take it from an actual woman, no girl is going to want a guy who’s done that. A man who shows emotional maturity is a man worth more than one who doesn’t.
