I’m a dude, and I’ve asked girls about this. It’s a part of someone’s story, it doesn’t say anything about where they currently are, but usually if there’s no period of celibacy or internal change that reflects a difference in perception towards the things that degrade trust, body count can be telling. People using it as a rule of thumb aren’t being rational, but there is a certain lack of boundaries mixed with people pleasing that is hard to build a relationship within.
