There’s so many. Things from the gyno, epidurals are horse sized needles they stick in the back during labor, tampons, pads- basically most things related to periods aren’t done very well.

Like seriously, the vagina is meant to have things put in it. So much so that women buy dildos. The widespread discomfort with gynecology is probably totally unnecessary

Honestly I think it’s depends on the gyno and how caring they are, it shouldn’t be painful to get a Pap smear. Now things like IUD insertions are a completely different story

Hey so a round plastic dildo is a little different than metal clamps

Oh it seems people misunderstood my comment. I meant it is probably unnecessary for them to design these things in a way that is so uncomfortable.

Speculums aren’t designed to be uncomfortable, they don’t have to be inserted all the way, they don’t have to be opened all the way, and if it’s metal it’s often kept in a heated drawer. Pap smears shouldn’t be uncomfortable when performed by a good doctor! Now the clamps used during iud insertion are different (these also weren’t designed to be uncomfortable, they were just designed with the incorrect assumption that the cervix has no nerve endings)
