Anyone else hit a point in a man flirting with you where they just start telling you that trauma. And like, tbc, I don’t mind vulnerability. I commend it. But at this point I am still very much a stranger, and I don’t get it. It happened multiple times

I love it because I know they feel safe around me. Men don’t just do that. They build up walls because of society and can’t tell their bros bc they fear the humiliation. I’ve had a lot of guy friends who’d I’d only briefly known tell me they trusted me above almost everyone and spill their guts. Within two weeks of meeting my boyfriend I held him as he cried. Men desperately want someone to listen/be there for them and express care without judging them for not following patriarchal values.

A lot of them live very emotionally lonely lives and when people express care for them (especially as a friend) the part of them that’s taught to make a joke, run, or be weird comes up. They haven’t been taught to accept or express any form of real platonic care so when you do something that would be standard for the girlies it hits different.

I get what you’re saying, but I have a good amount of close male friends that are open and vulnerable with me, and it takes a different form. It’s different when they’re flirting. Kinda like they’re front loading anything startling, if that makes sense? Idk, it just feels odd
