my ex did things to hurt me and now he told me that part of the reason he broke up with me was to start fresh in a new relationship and not make those same mistakes. how to get over this? i stayed when i was hurt but now he’ll change for some one else

You cut all contact and learn to move on. He basically told you that he was aware of how bad he treated you, didn't care, but only cared enough to change for another girl.
