Dating men, I noticed a correlation between their reading habits and their empathy/respect for consent. Has anyone else noticed this?

This makes sense absolutely.. empathy isn’t always natural to a lot of people and for a lot of men it’s a learned trait

My observation was that the most respectful guy I’ve been with romantically read a fictional book series with complex characters and a big focus on empathy and friendship. The series is Wings of Fire. Other guys either read less or read more fact-centered books that focused less on empathy. They respected me less.

Any specific observations you made? I’ll share mine in a different comment. Didn’t want to just write them in the initial post because it might create bias.

Basically, most of the men I’ve found extremely rude or disrespectful have not read in a very long time. All the men in my life that I am close to including my older brother and dad all read in some form or another.

That’s interesting. I wonder if it has to do with reading itself, what they were reading, or what else the bad ones did when they weren’t reading (e.g. watching porn, listening to manosphere bros)

I think it’s the lack of reading. To my knowledge, no one I have met who reads for enjoyment has been apart of the manosphere. We all know how important reading is, and literacy skills.
