i think they’re separate conversations. yes you’re definitely still a man but i’m not sure why you’re developed a fear? like in my experience the “kill all men” thing you’re talking about is like women being scared and angry at men in general, it’s not like there’s anything we can actually do about it, that’s the whole point, (just expressing a feeling). separately if my friend says something racist i’d definitely hold her accountable.
I’m scared to say no to white women, be seen with drunk white women, or be alone in a room with them bc ik if I get accused of something (and I have) there’s very few people who will believe me. I’m 6’3, 210lbs and a black man, if I get attacked, I can’t defend myself bc I’ll be the obv aggressor. The worst was a WW who was a SJW that read all the books and said all the right things but never went to protest or donate. We were super close, I read her to sleep at 3am when her meds kept her up.
She started using a lot of AAVE around me, parroting the terms and everything so I figured it’d be cool. HUGE MISTAKE. I don’t hate white women or anything, I just feel like a lot of yall are unable to accept a black man as a REAL person with complex emotions as opposed to an accessory or prop that’s proof of wokeness.
i think those things are DEFINITELY racist and i’m deeply sorry you’ve had to experience all of that. it makes sense that you would have fears around them given your experiences. i don’t think that this behavior from them is rooted in “wokeness”. i just think those are assholes frankly. i feel most women who hold that anger and resentments toward men as a whole don’t view men as less than people despite what some incels or others say online. that dehumanization comes from straight up racism.
this might be controversial but i know for some women at least, including myself, i will be more willing to trust or be quicker to be kind to nonwhite men because of their experiences being oppressed and (usually) they’ve gained some empathy and understanding from that so they can understand women’s experiences better. ofc anyone can do that, it’s just more common naturally in nonwhite men or those in oppressed groups.
Girl. INTERSECTIONALITY. I get it, men in general hold a specific type of threat/power over women, but race is a factor that plays into societal power dynamics as well. Unlike white men, black men legitimately have a reason to fear false accusations. Not because it’s statistically likely to happen, but because of what’s likely to happen IF a black man is falsely accused by a white woman. Historically it was an excuse for lynching. To this day, white testimonies are taken more seriously
And black men are still heavily demonized/stereotyped as being violent, sexual aggressors. I get that it’s ear grating as hell to hear white dudes constantly whining about a made-up problem just to avoid taking accountability, but this is not that. There is more way more nuance when identity beyond gender is involved.
i get that race is a big deal in the justice system of an incredibly racist country but like this guy came on here acting like you’re inherently biased if you have a negative sentiment towards black men as if it isn’t just all men that we have a negative sentiment towards. “is it still kill all men” like cmon
Aye. I get how he came across. That was my knee-jerk interpretation too bc I’m so used to reading misogynistic dog whistles. But he’s asking about attitudes toward black men specifically. As in do we check each other for insensitivity/discrimination against black men or do we ignore it on account of our negative sentiments toward men in general. Read back his other comments. Dude’s using inflammatory language, probably bc he’s upset, but I think he’s speaking in good faith.
