Why do women who have vaping addictions and get drunk on weekends act like watching porn is worse than those things šŸ’€

I don’t do any of those things but watching porn has negative impacts that effect more than the individual themselves while vaping and drinking mainly hurts the person themself only (ofc ik drunk driving is a risk but not rlly on topic here) you should look into how porn messes with the way you think and how that’s impacting current behaviors in society

Smoking and drinking in excess effects way more people externally from the person indulging than porn. Like drunk driving can’t just be brushed aside if you’re going to take the approach of externally harming others lmao

You think emphysema, lung cancer, brain damage, killing others from negligence is equivalent to the average person who periodically watches porn?

that's a logical fallacy. you're trying to compare outcomes of an action to a person. you need to be comparing outcomes to outcomes. yes, they're equally bad in their respective ways.

Yea but that would also entail drinking in excess and being irresponsible/ reckless which isn’t implied in just drinking itself which can be done in moderation. Like I said I don’t do either because vaping and drinking aren’t good no matter how you put it but with porn it is hard to measure how much is appropriate/ in moderation because the impacts of a porn addiction are more abstract in its affects than other addictions and aren’t as easily recognizable when surfacing

I think you misunderstood my intention then because that’s exactly what I’m drawing as a contrast. The outcome of someone’s life quality with damaged lungs is many times worse than the average porn watcher

Watching porn ≠ addiction whereas everyone who smokes is essentially addicted

porn can alter the brain's reward system (dopamine desensitization), reduce gray matter in reward-related areas (like the striatum), and it weakens connections between the prefrontal cortex (decision-making) and reward centers, like addictive substances. this rewiring of the brain can decrease sensitive to natural pleasures, increase cravings, impair impulse control, cause brain fog, and shift perceptions of sex towards physical instead of relational, impacting cognitive function & relationships

That’s quite literally what smoking does also, with the added health costs idk how you could continue to believe they are equivalent

you said, "that's quite literally what smoking does also", and yet you don't believe they're equivalent? you don't think porn can cost money? there's plenty of paid platforms people purchase on the regular or subscribe to. i didn't even really touch on the snowball effect.

Well what you said isn’t inherent to watching porn it’s primarily descriptive of porn addicts. No I don’t think they are equivalent because smoking has issues like lung cancer and shortened life span which watching porn doesn’t have

I dont know how you can think someone deliberately looking up things and watching people have sex (most of the time containing extremely unrealistic standards and fucked up plots) is somehow less worse than someone who used to hit their friends vape and accidentally got addicted. Vaping doesn’t change my perception of women and relationships. Which are forces outside of myself. Not just my lungs. Porn does

Also most people i know at least who do vape acknowledge the bad behavior it is. The addition it is. Many people who watch porn make excuses for it. Like you are right now

Did you not read the part where I said people watching porn not porn addicts. Watching it a couple times and not being addicted as you say still affects you lmao. Watching it and not being addicted as you say still causes you to view things differently. Everything you intake affects you. Media. Friendly conversations. World events. Be so for real right now.

That’s the thing you all have brought up addicts im not speaking about addicts. In my first reply to this person I clearly stated a person who isn’t addicted and they reaffirmed they think it’s equally bad to a smoker

My point was that people who even just watch it make excuses for it. Addiction or not. Like, again, you are doing right now. You are trying to minimize it by pointing out people who are addicted to an addictive chemical lmao. If watching porn (again, NOT AN ADDICTION AS YOU SAY!!!) isn’t so bad, then why are you deliberately and directly comparing it to a literal addiction to a chemical trying to minimize it.

Bro you’re trolling right. I’m not talking about porn addicts when I speak about addicts I’m talking about nicotine addicts. I’m saying people who even WATCH porn are still affected. Addiction or not

And again no one is denying the problems of porn addicts, I’ve asked even in such a case what is an analogous side effect unique to porn that is equivalent to having cancer or dying 10 years early. I’m yet to hear an answer to that

It’s internal. I’d want someone who would let their view of women and relationships be tainted by such a thing. I have hope for people who are addicted to nicotine to grow out of it. People who watch porn and see no wrong with it? Nah. I can convince a person very easily how bad nicotine is and how it can literally kill you. It’s not that watching porn can kill you, but it can severely damage your idea of relationships and women and so many other things that are detrimental to some-

I’m going to be real I’m not really sure what angle you’re coming at this from since you replied to a message in a convo you weren’t a part of. I’m open to talking to anyone but if I’m going to continue id like to know clearly then what exactly is your contention with the post

So I guess if you don’t care about that aspect of your life, like some don’t care about their lungs, then by all means go ahead and keep making excuses for it

Why is your analysis about porn focused on it negatively effecting women as if women do not watch porn lol. Many studies show women are more likely to seek out aggressive porn than male watchers. So I wonder why that seems irrelevant in your analysis

So your belief is that the effect watching of watching porn on men and women in relation to their opposite sex is way worse than dying early and getting cancer

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> OP 4w

Not necessarily. Because again I have hope for people who do vape to quit. People who watch porn usually don’t see anything wrong with it and never stop

Anonymous replying to -> #3 4w

Quiting smoking just stops the speed of the decline. Quiting smoking doesn’t repair the damage of the lungs and they still retain heightened risk of all the diseases and will die earlier lol. Not sure if you knew that so the idea of them stopping isn’t relevant to the question

Quitting absolutely does increase the function of your lungs. You gain better function and your cilia grow back. Will you be 100% A-Okay? No no addict ever is. But let’s not act like quitting mars zero difference to your lung health

I never said they didn’t have other improved outcomes but the same could be said about quitting porn (the damage doesn’t continue and they can work back to the default). Your belief basically boils down to well they are remorseful so it’s better, which is just an appeal to morality rather than looking at the actual state of the issues themselves.
