Why do women who have vaping addictions and get drunk on weekends act like watching porn is worse than those things 💀

I don’t do any of those things but watching porn has negative impacts that effect more than the individual themselves while vaping and drinking mainly hurts the person themself only (ofc ik drunk driving is a risk but not rlly on topic here) you should look into how porn messes with the way you think and how that’s impacting current behaviors in society

they're all equally bad

Smoking and drinking in excess effects way more people externally from the person indulging than porn. Like drunk driving can’t just be brushed aside if you’re going to take the approach of externally harming others lmao

You think emphysema, lung cancer, brain damage, killing others from negligence is equivalent to the average person who periodically watches porn?

that's a logical fallacy. you're trying to compare outcomes of an action to a person. you need to be comparing outcomes to outcomes. yes, they're equally bad in their respective ways.

Yea but that would also entail drinking in excess and being irresponsible/ reckless which isn’t implied in just drinking itself which can be done in moderation. Like I said I don’t do either because vaping and drinking aren’t good no matter how you put it but with porn it is hard to measure how much is appropriate/ in moderation because the impacts of a porn addiction are more abstract in its affects than other addictions and aren’t as easily recognizable when surfacing

I think you misunderstood my intention then because that’s exactly what I’m drawing as a contrast. The outcome of someone’s life quality with damaged lungs is many times worse than the average porn watcher

Watching porn ≠ addiction whereas everyone who smokes is essentially addicted

porn can alter the brain's reward system (dopamine desensitization), reduce gray matter in reward-related areas (like the striatum), and it weakens connections between the prefrontal cortex (decision-making) and reward centers, like addictive substances. this rewiring of the brain can decrease sensitive to natural pleasures, increase cravings, impair impulse control, cause brain fog, and shift perceptions of sex towards physical instead of relational, impacting cognitive function & relationships

That’s quite literally what smoking does also, with the added health costs idk how you could continue to believe they are equivalent

you said, "that's quite literally what smoking does also", and yet you don't believe they're equivalent? you don't think porn can cost money? there's plenty of paid platforms people purchase on the regular or subscribe to. i didn't even really touch on the snowball effect.

Well what you said isn’t inherent to watching porn it’s primarily descriptive of porn addicts. No I don’t think they are equivalent because smoking has issues like lung cancer and shortened life span which watching porn doesn’t have

Ok so what unique part of watching porn is analogous to losing years of your life literally

That’s the thing you all have brought up addicts im not speaking about addicts. In my first reply to this person I clearly stated a person who isn’t addicted and they reaffirmed they think it’s equally bad to a smoker

And again no one is denying the problems of porn addicts, I’ve asked even in such a case what is an analogous side effect unique to porn that is equivalent to having cancer or dying 10 years early. I’m yet to hear an answer to that

I’m going to be real I’m not really sure what angle you’re coming at this from since you replied to a message in a convo you weren’t a part of. I’m open to talking to anyone but if I’m going to continue id like to know clearly then what exactly is your contention with the post

Why is your analysis about porn focused on it negatively effecting women as if women do not watch porn lol. Many studies show women are more likely to seek out aggressive porn than male watchers. So I wonder why that seems irrelevant in your analysis

I’m asking for clarification since I’d rather not assume. Is it that you think they are equivalent or do you think one is worse? That hasn’t be clearly stated

I don’t watch porn and I’ve never drank or smoked so I’m not sure why you mention “my life” as if you know anything about me other than the words on the screen

We aren’t talking about men watching porn either. The post doesn’t use the word men in it

So your belief is that the effect watching of watching porn on men and women in relation to their opposite sex is way worse than dying early and getting cancer

Quiting smoking just stops the speed of the decline. Quiting smoking doesn’t repair the damage of the lungs and they still retain heightened risk of all the diseases and will die earlier lol. Not sure if you knew that so the idea of them stopping isn’t relevant to the question

I never said they didn’t have other improved outcomes but the same could be said about quitting porn (the damage doesn’t continue and they can work back to the default). Your belief basically boils down to well they are remorseful so it’s better, which is just an appeal to morality rather than looking at the actual state of the issues themselves.
