My best friend told me if I ever want to find love I need to pretend to be someone else until I lock him down because the real me is offputting. She essentially said I’m unlovable. Would yall stay friends w someone who told you this? 😭

No. That’s horrible advice. You’ll never be truly happy in that relationship and you’re manipulating your partner into thinking you’re someone you are not

I would stop being friends with that person immediately. Telling you that you unloveable is just awful

Absolutely not. No true friend would ever say that and you definitely deserve better

I’m not necessarily talking about the advice. I think it’s dumb too. I’m stuck on the fact that she thinks that I can’t be loved for just being myself & called me offputting.

That is also insane to me. I love my friends because they are who they are. Everyone can and should be loved for being themselves. To live a life of fear and regret because you may be “off putting” is sad. You can of course tone things down, maybe sometimes not be as energetic, but as a friend that’s not something you say
