In my opinion it’s when anger at women turns into hate. It could be sex related or it could be anything else related. But these men hate women. Refuse to listen to us and often harass us.

Not everyone who identifies as an incel is a misogynist. Some of them just hear “involuntarily celibate” and think “I want sex I don’t have, guess I’m an incel.” But those who hang around other incels have certainly been willing to tolerate misogyny amongst their friends. So I’d pay attention to who they hang out with and what they say online. Either way though it’s a red flag of epic proportions.

Pretty much Virgin: virgin but doesn’t blame/despise women Incel: virgin but blames women for his lack of success, generalizes women, etc

I’m trying to figure out if these people are like kinda incelish but I wasn’t sure if there was a spectrum or not. I read a paper about incels published by NIH and they checked off some boxes but they are most definitely not as extreme as some of the people mentioned in that paper

As a woman, I don’t want to actively seek out someone who identifies as a incel because I’m not sure how safe that is.

I would befriend an incel if he didn’t have other red flags, but I would not date one ever. If they care about sex THAT much, they’re probably not an interesting person.
