You definitely did the right thing. Not telling someone would be an asshole move. He’s the one who cheated and got caught and that’s why he’s upset.

Drop ur best friend. He doesn’t seem to be the type that will have your best interest in the future. It also seems like you two are on different maturity levels and if I were you I’d start questioning the type of friends I’d want to surround myself with. Good luck! :)
