any advice for getting doctors to listen to you? i’ve had issues with falling/staying asleep for years; whenever i ask doctors about it, they give me the same bs advice. i’m now barely getting 1-3 hours of sleep per night. i Need a doctor to listen to me

I agree do a sleep study. Depending on your insurance you are going to talk to your primary so just express your concern and what you want out the visit. You have a say in your health plan. It's a collaborative effort

they prob see a lot of medication seeking, but if you ask for a sleep study, they might refer you

idk if they’re refusing to listen because i’m a woman, ik this isn’t a woman’s health issue, but still 😭ladies do any of yall have advice for getting these mfs to take you seriously

They have guidelines to go in order and try the simplest solutions first. So they start with sleep education, then melatonin, checking iron/thyroid, other sleep meds, sleep study referral usually about last. Give a little pushback, tell them what you’ve tried. But go back to the same provider, they just have to show they tried the simple things first before insurance will cover bigger stuff

Track your sleep for a few weeks or a month, bring that in to show them, and then ask for a sleep study

Idk why I’m being downvoted, I needed a man (my dad) backing up my symptoms until I was taken seriously. It’s a real issue with women’s healthcare.
