Should schools be required to teach k-12 students about political science (obviously in age appropriate ways for each grade level)?

They already do. Just bc it’s not called poli sci doesn’t mean students don’t learn how gov politics and the legislature works

I got this definition : Political science focuses on the theory and practice of government and politics at the local, state, national, and international levels. We are dedicated to developing understandings of institutions, practices, and relations that constitute public life and modes of inquiry that promote citizenship. https://www.polisci.washington.edu/what-political-science Did anyone learn anything like described on this link in k-12

Hi! In Texas (where I happen to be) they have TEKs that cover poli sci throughout the years. (I’m in school to teach & I did a lot of assignments over history teks for early childhood specifically) A lot of schools will not allow for a “poli sci” specific class, but it is touched on over the years. Third- 3.11A, 3.12A Eighth- 8.15A, 8.19A, 8.21A HS- 113.44(c)(1)

I learned about civics and the constitution. But I never had classes that were referred to as political science.

Yeah but wasn’t that in a gov class or history class. Poli sci isn’t always going to be called poli sci but that’s fair.

Did you not have to take a class about government?

Those are a few examples, there are SO many more specifically for TX, and I’m sure across every state. But it’s touched on, even if it’s not directly stated :)
