Should parents be held accountable for not teaching their children to be responsible? Or is that solely on the child to figure out on their own?

Responsible in what way, and accountable in what way?

In some cases yes. Like in Michigan there was a teen who killed someone while speeding, and apparently his mom had talked to him numerous times about not speeding bc she could see his speeds on life 360. In my opinion that mom should have been held partially responsible for the death of that kid. Kinda like what happened in the Oxford shooting where parents were charged with involuntary manslaughter for giving their child access to the gun

Yeah if the child wasn’t already taught it. You can’t really call your child broke if you’re the cause of them being broke

Taught financial responsibility, in a sense that they understand why their children don’t understand how to handle money and they would’ve if their parent had showed them. Instead of claiming the child is at fault because they are stupid😭

What can the mom do though if he takes her keys and goes. If ur allowed to drive ur responsible enough to make good decisions and if u don’t it’s ur fault 100%. Bc if they are too young y r we giving them licenses and allowing them on the road in the first place

Not necessarily. Just bc you can drive doesn’t make you responsible. Even adults are irresponsible and get in accidents, DUIs etc

I meant the ability to be responsible. Like adults that act irresponsible get full punishments. Y r we giving teens licenses if they are not capable of full responsibility. If they are allowed to drive and they make a mistake the accountability should fully fall on them

A mother cannot monitor a 16-17 year old child 24/7. Y r we giving them a license in the first place if they need a parent to monitor them

Anyone has the ability to driving ≠ you’re a fully responsible person. If that’s the case why do ppl let adults who clearly can’t handle driving…drive

That’s not what I said. I said if they have a license then the state who gave them the license is saying they are capable of making responsible decisions so when they make a mistake the teen should bare full accountability not the parent.

You don’t have to constantly monitor him, just put the keys somewhere safe jfc
