I’m an incoming freshman. I don’t know lime how to start doing hookups or like get into the hookup scene so to speak. The only problem is that I’m a virgin, I’ve only ever kissed one guy before and I’ve never done anything sexual with a guy OR girl. HELP!

as someone who has had many hookups i would absolutely not recommend losing your virginity to a hookup. i’ve had some truly horrible ones and if that had been my first introduction to sex i would have been devastated. there’s too much risk. having sex especially for the first time is an incredibly vulnerable position to be in. you are trusting someone with the most sensitive part of your body. you need to be able to trust that they will care about your safety wellbeing and pleasure.

I was in your exact spot coming into my freshman year and lost my virginity to a hookup in September of my sophomore year. The experience was really worth it for me, but I would recommend waiting a while. Being a freshman and living as an adult on your own for the first time is a big, turbulent thing that will make you vulnerable, and there are a lot of upperclassmen who will take advantage of that to play with your feelings and lead you on

okay hold on, by all means you should think about why you feel compelled to have hookups but basing it on a hypothetical man's opinion is stupid as hell

the truth is that a lot of men who are just looking to hook up are solely looking out for their pleasure. there are a lot of fuckin bad apples out there that will not respect your body or boundaries

Okay ew. That’s not why this is a bad idea. A hypothetical man’s opinion doesn’t matter

The reason I say this is because I’ve been in a situation like this and I regret it to this day. There was a person for me that really cared and loved me, even the ugliest part. I ended up hurting him because I was doing all the hookups and he left.

hooking up with people while you're in a relationship is very obviously different wtf

No we weren’t in a relationship. We were really close friends.

this seems like a situation much more specific to you. OP should protect herself and her boundaries but "what if you make a man sad" is dumb

People who would be a good choice to lose your virginity to as a hookup are usually not going to want to do that with someone who’s newly a freshman. Waiting for sophomore year, when you’re more stable and confident in yourself, would probably be best
