Sorry I know this isn’t an ask but I think this is an important thing to see, especially for the men who question how and why women can be resentful of patriarchy (the image is a little simplified but overall accurate)

Y’all know this was always a psyop to get women in the workforce and #1 double the money the US receives in tax revenue and #2 weaken the family unit. Idk I don’t think things are better bc of it, most of you secretly hate having to work and our government reaps the benefits. I know that’s controversial to say but that’s really true, your “freedom” isn’t really freedom and wasn’t given to you out of civil goodness.

(M) Just cuz you have the right to do something doesn’t automatically give you the ability to abuse it. You can be staunchly pro life; and still be pro choice, the conversation just happens with a woman having a voice in the conversation.

If a woman can’t work, a woman can’t leave. If anything what you’re upholding is propaganda to keep women in weak positions so men can get away with abuse and treating humans as property. I love my bf, I plan to someday be a wife and mother, but I will never drop my own income because I’ve seen a thousand times over the fates of women without means to sustain themselves. Our current capitalist economy is an issue, but not one made by women working. There have always been women working,

Well for one y’all are forced to work now cause our economy sucks. There’s no going back at this point. As for the whole women being stuck in abusive relationships part, just got to choose better partners. Fathers and brothers were more involved in the past with helping women choose their suitors because they could see bad partners objectively. Abuse definitely existed don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t the norm for most relationships.

The SAVE act will most likely sadly be turned into law. It’s supposed to help “protect” our polls as we have a “surge” of noncitizens voting (I believe the stat was 0.3% I could be wrong). So to “protect” all voters must firstly re-register to vote regardless if you’re already registered, and your current passport, or license names have to match your birth certificate.Now comes the problem as most (not all)married women have their partners last name,or is hyphenated which means they can’t vote

upvote 31 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 2w

This also extends out to trans voters but is essentially a tactic to minimize blue voters (most women vote blue and most LGBTQ members vote blue)

Anonymous replying to -> #12 2w

If you find the one good NPR article, sure. Looks like SAVE will pose issues for married women like #1 said. Classic disenfranchisement from voting regulation bills. Republics don’t realize these “common sense” laws which require documentation have extremely significant “devil in the details” implications since you could change the election by blocking voters. No wonder trump wants this passed so badly. It’ll probably pass too since it already passed the house… Hello fascism

upvote 20 downvote

No they do realize they’re blocking voters. It’s completely intentional and this point has been brought up multiple times and they do not care. It’s made to suppress the votes

are we seriously still saying the SAVE act somehow makes it women can’t vote when you literally need documentation of a name change (like a marriage certificate) for SO MANY THINGS. like doing taxes, getting a loan, getting a passport, getting a DRIVERS LICENSE. are we saying women are too stupid to hold onto their marriage certificate? bsfr. requiring it one time when you register to vote is NOT an issue

upvote -3 downvote
🌪️
Anonymous replying to -> twirling_tornado 2w

the SAVE act does not make it so your name has to match your birth certificate. it just means you have to present DOCUMENTATION of your name change, like your MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, when you register to vote. This not hard and again its already required for a ton of other things

upvote -3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> twirling_tornado 2w

What if you lose your marriage certificate? You have to get a new one. Guess what? That reprint costs money. Boom you just created a poll tax. Shit happens. The government demands original documents. Tornados, flood, disasters, termites, humid weather eats documents. What about homeless people? They should be able to vote.

upvote 9 downvote

If you’re gonna do voter ID, you MUST GUARANTEE the IMPOSSIBILITY of disenfranchisement. Ie digital documents are accepted. Ie documentation of ID can always be obtained free of charge (state IDs can be free but drivers licenses are certainly not). Most states aren’t gonna do those things. Especially broke states

first of all, who loses their marriage certificate?? second of all, if you do its literally only $10-30 to get a whole new certified copy and you can get it online, by mail, or in person. i could literally sit on the side of the road with a sign for 30 min and someone would give me $30. stop acting like it’s any sort of barrier to married women to require documentation of their marriage certificate to vote

You have clearly never panhandled dude. If you’re homeless and flat broke, are you really gonna spend that $30 on a piece of paper to vote once and wait another 2 years?? Instead of food? Clothing? Fucking stupid. ALSO. That’s a $30 poll tax which is already unconstitutional. But only married women who have changed their name have to pay it!!! Discrimination by gender is also unconstitutional. First of all, there’s not even a $30 fee unless you LOSE your marriage certificate. how many people do you know who have actually lost that?? MOST people keep track of it. Second of all, you’re now saying that homeless broke married women who lost their marriage certificate can’t vote. Which is VERY different from saying “it targets all married women” hmm

Anonymous replying to -> twirling_tornado 2w

third of all, lots of places have fee waivers for people who can’t pay them and homeless shelters and nonprofits have programs that will pay for them as well. focus should be on supporting those programs so they can actually get their documentation which also helps them in the long run to get jobs etc.
